With the recent investigation into the extradition of Learco Chindamo following the death of head teacher Philip Lawrence and the 7/7 London bombings of 2005 is it not time our Government acted to stamp out the migrants who’s only intention of coming to our country is to create violence and spout religious hatred.
Following Gordon Browns proposed new security measures, which will see Britain on full security alert and the creation of a unified border guard integrating the Immigration, Customs, and Visa authorities, Security has become a main concern for the Government, but why is this? Critics believe it is down to a soft approach by the Government, others believe bad decisions on immigration are to be blamed, but wherever the finger is pointed there is no doubt that security is a growing concern, but how do we stop further attacks or incidents from happening?
Over in Australia, they have a strict immigration policy in which a point system is set in place alongside a thorough security and background check, so far so good, but After recent problems with outspoken Muslim Clerics , Australian Prime Minister John Howard has took a more direct approach. In a recent statement, Prime Minister John Howard outlined his stance on the growing concern over immigrants;
“IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.”
“However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the ‘politically correct’ crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia.” “However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.”
“This idea of Australia being a multi-cultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. And as Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.”
“This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom”
So what can we learn from Mr Howard, if anything?
Well Britain has always been a nation which prides itself on its multi cultural status and is recognised worldwide as a country where different nations can live together under one roof and so it should be proud, but where do we draw the line on the migrants who enter our country with there religious agendas, will it take another major crisis to open the Governments eyes or are they closed tightly shut?
Gordon Brown spoke back in June of the need to do more to protect the “British way of life”, but what exactly is the British way of life, what direction is our country heading in. A recent news story told of the record number of British citizens who are currently fleeing for a better life abroad (top destination Australia) and the growing number of migrants entering from Eastern Europe. This story only highlights the growing concern from a number of British citizens on the direction they feel the country is heading and should only act as a catalyst for change, but when and where will this change occur, I do not know the answer and I am sure you don’t either, but who does?
