I am to become a father for the first time, the news broken to me by my wife on our return from New York was both exciting and worrying. Firstly, the worry, this comes about because I struggle to cook beans and toast, so how will I look after my own child? OK, cooking beans and toast can be tricky, over cook the beans and you have ruined a perfect meal, undercook the bread and you have no basis for a meal.
Anyway, back to my original point, having a child will be a hard and difficult task, a task I am fully prepared and looking forward for, but at the same time worried I will not be the best I can be. This made me think of Gordon Brown, he too must be going through a similar process. Firstly he tried and tried to get the best seat in the house and then eventually he got what he wanted, but now starts the hard work, he has his own baby(the UK), but now he must nurture and care for it, if he wants to transform it into a strong, serious and hard working sibling which will make him proud.
I am sure he will have a few teething problems and some nappies to change along the way, but will he succeed in being a good father figure and a caring parent to the child which has a lot of growing up to do.
