Neglecting our Young People: the scourge of gun, knife and violent crime
The ruthless vicious murder of our children and young people as signified by the recent murders of Steven Bigby and 16-year-old Jimmy Mizen, can never simply be defined as two polarised opposites, there are processes in between, where the needs of children and young people have been neglected and thus society needs to take responsibility […]

Lewis Hamilton does not deserve such racist abuse
Despite my many years of anti-racist activism and campaigning, I am deeply shocked, horrified and alarmed at the brutal racist treatment of Lewis Hamilton and his family at the hands of so called Formula One supporters. Surely, there can be no place in modern civil society for such barbaric inhumane behaviour as that on public […]

Cameron is wrong over ’stop and search’ claims
In an interview in today’s Sun newspaper, the Conservative leader, David Cameron would have us believe that an increase in the police use of stop and search would help to solve gun, knife and violent crime. His claims come despite the clear evidence that black communities are already up to six times more likely than […]

The Courage of Jessie James - Making it safe to talk
The courts in Manchester at the coroner’s inquest into the death of young courageous Jessie James have taken the brave and radical move to provide anonymity to vulnerable witnesses. For the first time, since his brutal gangland murder, the police now have usable witness statements.

Tony Blair’s comments are a kick in the teeth for Black communities
Prime Minister, Tony Blair's comments that the Black community "…need to be mobilised in denunciation of this gang culture that is killing innocent young Black kids…" is a kick in the teeth to five generations of the UK's Black community and the countless foremothers and forefathers who fought for our freedom.
In the absence of statutory […]

Sadly, more young people will die from this culture of violence
The implementation this year of the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006, which gives amongst other things powers to teachers to search pupils for weapons, will be of little comfort to the parents of 15-year-old Adam Regis and 16-year-old Kodjo Yenga who were recently stabbed to death in public.
Some of our young people located at […]

Gun Crime - There are no quick fixes
The Prime Minister's wide ranging summit and North-West UK tour will have highlighted that there are no quick fixes to the growing problem of gun crime.
Most of the gunmen including those growing minority under the age of 19 are totally callous, valuing lives cheaply, including their own. The older notorious gangland mafias on our […]
