Three cheers - very loud ones - for Bill Randall! In this week’s Inside Housing, his column makes the clear case for lifetimes homes. I would point out that this is not just for home owners - think about the housing management case. How many transfer cases are on your books now because the home is unsuitable? I can remember many cases of tenants desperate to transfer because a downstairs toilet was needed - a stair lift - wider door ways. Building in the possibility of these from the start will ultimately make it so much easer for Housing management.
Housing associations are business for builders. What if we did as Bill Randall has suggested and tell them to stop whimpering, grow up and make the homes we all need now? I think we’d find a change in their attitude. All we need to do is change ours.
