Management training

“Frontline pay cuts loom” is a terrible headline. Clearly supporting people in the community is the aim, but we are turning this into another care in the community debacle. There are stories in the press about the poor provision in some areas - and while the Ministers decry it and claim more will be done, the question is with what? We always being told in housing to do more with less - but it seems we are being told to do more with nothing!

Supporting People is about people. Not just those who get the support but those who give. Time and time again we are told how valuable these services are - but they are not free. When I managed a hostel, staff always did more than what was required. This good will saved money. Staff did it because they felt fairly treated. Take away the fair treatment, and you will get into a work to rule mentality. And where that will leave us as a society?
